A Message from The General Manager:

Dear Park West Residents,

As we move forward together, I want to share how truly proud I am to be part of this incredible community. Over the past six years with the Park West Master Association, I’ve seen firsthand the strength, warmth, and pride that make Park West such a special place to call home.

Looking ahead, my focus is on continuing to elevate the Park West Experience for all residents. We are actively working on several key initiatives-enhancing our amenities, improving communication and investing in long-term projects that support the beauty, safety, and value of our neighborhood.

These efforts are part of a broader vision to ensure Park West continues to thrive not just today but for years to come. I believe strongly in working hand-in-hand with our residents, and I welcome your feedback, ideas and involvement as we shape the future together.

Thank you for your continued support and for making Park West a place we are all proud to be a part of.

With Appreciation,

Sheryl James

General Manager

** Pools are Open until 10/13/25
————————————————————

Residents have requested extended pool hours this year, and we’ve listened — the pools will remain open through October 13th. Pool Attendants schedule changed to only weekends on August 10th. Please remember that when Attendant are not there, the rule for Weather Safety still applies.

Weather Safety Policy – Lightning & Thunderstorms

For your safety, swimming is strictly prohibited during lightning or thunderstorms. Park West follows the widely recognized “30-30 Rule”:
* If you hear thunder or see lightning, you must immediately exit the pool.
* Do not re-enter the water until 30 minutes have passed since the last sound of thunder or flash of lightning.

If the pool is not closed during hazardous weather, the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has the authority to shut down the facility and post “No Swimming” signs.

We’ve added more umbrellas this year for your comfort at the pool. Please be sure to lower them when not in use.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our pools safe and enjoyable for everyone.

** Amenity Center: Did you know?

** Looking Ahead: The Park West 2045 Vision
————————————————————

At Park West, we are not just thinking about today-we are planning for tomorrow. The Park West 2045 Vision is our long-term commitment to ensuring that our community continues to thrive, evolve and remain one of the most desirable places to live in Mount Pleasant for generations to come.

This vision focuses on thoughtful growth, sustainable development, enhanced green spaces, modernized amenities, and a stronger sense of connectivity-both within our neighborhoods and with the surrounding Lowcountry. It reflects the values of our residents: safety, beauty, innovation, and community spirit.

As stewards of the community’s financial future, we are working diligently to align resources and planning efforts to support this vision responsibly and strategically. Your engagement is key as we move forward with purpose.

Together, we are building a stronger, smarter Park West now and for 2045.

Warm regards,

The Park West Financial Committee

** Tree Preservation & Removal Guidelines for Park West Residents
————————————————————

A Message from the ARB

The Park West community is thoughtfully designed to preserve and enhance its natural landscape, which includes old oaks, native hardwoods, tall pines, and other indigenous vegetation. Special attention is given to street and neighborhood perimeter buffers to maintain the area’s natural beauty. A vital design feature of Park West is its tree canopy, and the PWM ARB strongly encourages residents to continue maintaining and improving it.

According to PWM Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions (CC&Rs), any tree with a trunk that has an 8” DBH* or greater requires written approval from either your neighborhood HOA/ARC Board, or PWM ARB. Additionally, if the tree falls under the Town of Mount Pleasant’s (TOMP) protected significant (16” DBH* or larger), or historic (24” DBH* or larger) tree classifications, you must also obtain a TOMP tree removal permit.

Effective May 1, 2025, the Town of Mount Pleasant adopted a new tree ordinance with notable updates. A key ordinance change is any Pine tree with a DBH* of 24” or more are classified as a TOMP protected historic tree and now require a TOMP permit for removal.

Below are some other important points you should be aware of:
* Removal of any tree within a PWM buffer or neighborhood entrance must receive PWM written approval. Please contact the PWM office at 843-408-4064 for additional details, questions, and/or an application.
* PW homeowners wishing to remove a tree, please contact your neighborhood HOA/ARC for details, any questions, and/or an application.
* All TOMP tree removal permits must be visibly displayed during removal. (e.g., in a front window, on the mailbox post, or on a storm door).
* The TOMP typically requires tree mitigation when granting tree removal permits. The PWM ARB encourages homeowners to plant replacement trees on their property instead of paying into the TOMP Tree Fund.
* For TOMP tree removal questions or permit assistance, please email the town at trees@tompsc.com or call them at 843-884-1229. You can also find information on the TOMP website www.tompsc.com in “Zoning” under the Planning, Land Use, and Neighborhoods department.
