Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a comment to the Army Corps of Engineers during the public comment period. The response from the community was amazing with more than 2,200 individuals sending a comment to the Army Corps of Engineers through the Smart Growth 41 comment portal alone.
While this was an amazing milestone, the fight to save Park West and Laurel Hill County Park is far from over. Given this overwhelming response from the community, the Army Corps of Engineers will likely be holding a public hearing regarding the so-called “Road to Compromise” that could happen as soon as the next 60 days or so. This will be the next key milestone in determining whether or not this project will be approved and having a strong contingent of individuals at this event in opposition to the Laurel Hill Parkway will be critical.
The timeline regarding any potential public hearing is still fluid, so please continue to visit the Smart Growth 41 website for updates as to opportunities regarding public input and participation in the project. We will also continue to keep you updated via email with any developments.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or feedback and if you would like to volunteer for our Highway 41 committee, please email parkwesthwy41@gmail.com.
